In 1997, Andrew Wakefield, M.D., presented evidence at the National Vaccine Information Center's First International Public Conference on Vaccination that live MMR vaccine can induce a persistent measles virus infection in vulnerable children leading to intestinal bowel disorders and brain dysfunction, including autistic behaviors. Since then, Dr. Wakefield has been viciously attacked for his research to develop therapies to heal MMR vaccine injured children by British and U.S. government health officials as well as medical journals whose authors receive government and pharmaceutical industry money.

Withstanding both professional and personal losses to pursue the truth about MMR vaccine and autism, Andrew Wakefield courageously refused to be intimidated by the bully boys operating the Vaccine Machine. He stayed the course and now his work is being independently replicated and validated by other researchers. They, too, are risking personal and professional loss to do this research.

Truth in science is very difficult to achieve these days when government health agencies and drug companies in control of most of the research dollars choose to protect their reputation and profits rather than protect the lives of innocent children. But no matter how long it takes, the truth does prevail in the end.

The whole truth about vaccine risks is just beginning to be told.

In a vaccine approval frenzy putting big smiles on the faces of drug company execs, the FDA approved Zostavax, a shingles vaccine made by Merck.

Coming on the heels of licensing a controversial HPV vaccine for genital warts and cervical cancer that will target 11 year olds, the FDA approved a shingles vaccine that works half the time in people over 60. Merck really wants to market the vaccine to people 50 and older but the FDA temporarily said "No" to that idea because studies hadn't been done.

Zostavax is actually a booster dose of Merck's varicella zoster (chickenpox) vaccine. It is the equivalent of 14 doses of Merck's pediatric chicken pox vaccine. The safety of injecting a "souped up" version of the pediatric chicken pox vaccine into the often immune compromised elderly is yet another national experiment on one of the two most vulnerable segments of our society: the frail elderly. The elderly, along with children, often bear the brunt of medical science's obsession with eradicating microrganisms and the exploitation by drug companies in search of profits.

Mass use of chicken pox vaccine in American children since 1995 has caused a shingles epidemic in older Americans. Before mass chicken pox vaccine use, Americans who had recovered from chicken pox as children would have their immunity "boosted" naturally and asymptomatically by coming into contact with young children infected with chicken pox. Now, with no chicken pox around to do the boosting for older Americans, they get shingles instead. Chicken pox rarely causes severe complications or death in healthy children with 50 chickenpox related deaths in children occurring annually before mass use of chicken pox vaccine.

Some researchers (Goldman, G., International Journal of Toxicology, 2005) estimate it will take more than 50 years of mass use of chicken pox vaccine before the shingles epidemic will begin to subside and will affect 14.6 million Americans at a cost of $4.1 billion or about $80 million in annual health care costs. Shingles cases result in 3 times as many deaths and 5 times as many hospitalizations in adults as chicken pox cases do in children.

Bottom line: Drug companies double their profit potential when they create vaccines and drugs which create diseases and disorders that require creation and purchase of new vaccines and drugs. It gives special meaning to the phrase "a vicious circle."

Gardasil, the heavily promoted cervical cancer and genital wart vaccine
that Merck, the CDC and AAP want to mandate for all 11 and 12 year old
girls, will not only increase the risk of cervical cancer for some of
adolescent girls but can also make them susceptible to infection from the
multiple other strains of HPV. In addition, five women who got the vaccine
around time of conception gave birth to babies with birth defects.

With American babies now getting 48 doses of 14 vaccines by age six,
profit-hungry drug companies and power-hungry federal health officials are
targeting adolescents for new vaccine consumption. During a time when
adolescents are undergoing hormonal changes and accelerated growth, they are
being subjected to increased atypical manipulation of the immune system with
viral and bacterial vaccines including DTaP, meningococcal, flu, hepatitis B
and now a genital wart and cervical cancer vaccine.

In this national experiment on our teenagers, will anybody be studying
onset of chronic disease and disability in adolescents post vaccination? Or
will predictable increases in brain and immune system dysfunction such as
onset of new allergies, asthma, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis,
rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, thyroid disease,
chronic fatigue, depression, and yes, cancer, be written off as unassociated
with vaccination?

Injecting adolescent girls with any vaccine that could increase their
chance of getting cancer without their voluntary, informed consent and the
consent of their parents is immoral. All attempts to mandate Gardasil for
school entry should be opposed as a violation of human rights, including the
right to life.

Just about anyone with an M.D. or Ph.D. can call themselves an "ethicist"
these days and feel free to appoint themselves judge of who will live and
who will die. There is a tendency for public health types employed by the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to believe they are in charge
of deciding which groups of individuals within society are expendable for
the "greater good." Whether it is maintaining that the casualties of forced
vaccination are expendable or, in the case of this pandemic flu "study,"
that babies and children under 13 and parents and grandparents over 40 are
expendable, these elitists wield the ugly utilitarian ratonale like a club.
Those who believe utiliitarianism has a shred of morality within its
philosophy, should read the post World War II transcripts of The Doctor's
Trial at Nuremberg. Revealed there, for all the world to see, is why it is
dangerous and inherently immoral to use the utilitarian psuedo ethic to
support any State policy.

Emanuel and Wertheimer's suggestion that babies and children under 13 are
expendable and should be denied vaccine in a lethal flu pandemic is forcing
a "Sophie's Choice" on parents and grandparents over and under 40. It is a
non-starter.

However, if an experimental pandemic flu vaccine is as dangerous as the flu
it purports to protect against, ironically the policy of denying the very
youngest ones the vaccine might end up saving them. In the 1918 influenza
pandemic, about one-third of the population became infected and about 10
percent of those infected died. The vaccine benefit risk ratio might well
tip in favor of either escaping infection or recovering naturally from the
disease rather than deliberately taking a risk with an experimental pandemic
flu vaccine.

But if a pandemic flu vaccine were really the low risk lifesaver it is meant
to be, a more humane prioritizing of scarce vaccine supplies might be to
allocate them to those with the greatest chance of dying from the infection.
And that would be entirely dependent upon the nature of the particular
influenza virus circulating and whether it was especially lethal for certain
groups of individuals.

The serious business of deciding who gets a lifeboat when the ship is
sinking should involve people from all segments of society. The people, not
the "experts," should decide.

$1 Billion To Create New Flu Vaccines

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Five companies received more than $1 billion in contracts to develop new and better influenza vaccines, and to make them on U.S. territory, the U.S. Health and Human Services Department said on Thursday.

BL Fisher Note:
If the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services has given $1 billion dollars out of the taxpayers pocketbook to drug companies to create new flu vaccines, you can bet that when those flu vaccines are ready to be sold to a public they have conditioned to live in abject fear of a case of the flu, government health officials will be lobbying states to pass laws mandating that every citizen get a flu shot every year.

How else will those drug companies make big bucks after they get a big handout from Uncle Sam for creating vaccines that public health officials persuade politicians to force everybody to use?

The irony is that if the M.D./Ph.D. "experts" are wrong about mandated use of flu vaccine from birth to prevent all natural experience with type A and type B flu, if their zealous enforcement of mass vaccination policies create a virgin population without any immunological experience with the natural disease, then the day that pandemic flu virus does show up, it might well take out half of humanity.

It is dangerous business to make us vaccine dependent, vulnerable to vaccine-induced chronic inflammation as well as unable to successfully meet the challenge from flu viruses without serious complications. But then, there is always money to be made in developing drugs to try to counteract the problems too much vaccination creates.

Drug Industry Conspires With Top Officials

The Public Citizen's May 4, 2006 report, Willful Misconduct: How Bill Frist and the Drug Lobby Covertly Bagged a Liability Shield, details how top drug company and U.S. public health and justice officials colluded with each other and a few members of Congress to shield the pharmaceutical industry from liability.

The report confirms the public warning of the National Vaccine Information Center, Liability Shield Given to Pharma and the Oct. 19, 2005 press release - Congress Set to Pass Law Eliminating Liability for Vaccine Injuries and the Nov. 15, 2005 press release - Congress Set To Bail Out Big Pharma in Secret.

NVIC's early alarm stimulated national press coverage of the upcoming dirty deal but was not enough to stop the deal from being done. The winners? Drug company executives, their stockholders and politicians who take drug money to stay in office. The losers? The American people, who will suffer the consequences when the unelected Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services declares an "emergency" and the state militia is called out to force experimental vaccines and drugs upon citizen, who will have no legal recourse when they are harmed.

Mumps Vaccine: Supply and Demand

Health officials aren't sure why so few college-age Iowans took advantage of
clinics.

Vaccines, like any other product sold in a free enterprise system, should be subject to the law of supply and demand. If Iowans choose to roll up their sleeves and get another dose of mumps vaccine, that is their right. If Iowans say "no thankyou" to mumps vaccine - for whatever reason - that is their right.

No citizen of any state should be expected to get vaccinated in order to financially underwrite product sales for a drug company marketing vaccines. Increasingly public health officials appear to be more concerned about ensuring a healthy profit margin for vaccine manufacturers than giving health care consumers complete and accurate information about the benefits and risks of vaccines so consumers can engage in informed decision making.

Chicken Little alert? Hysteria could sap money from worse health threats

Hyping the exaggerated dangers of a pandemic bird flu potentially wiping out the human race is a profitable business for public health officials and drug companies eager to keep the public in a perpetual state of fear. Fear leads people to do things they ordinarily would not do if they were not running for cover.

Fear persuades politicians to vote for huge sums of taxpayer dollars to give to drug companies and government health agencies so they can collaborate with each other to create experimental pandemic flu vaccines. Fear persuades the people to allow themselves to be governed by new state and federal laws enacted since September 11, 2001 that will enable public health officials and politicians to use military force to arrest, quarantine and vaccinate citizens against their will with experimental vaccines that can kill or cripple them.

And when somebody dies or is crippled by the experimental vaccines they are forced to take after the Secretary of Health and Human Services declares an "emergency," nobody can be held accountable in a court of law: the drug companies making the vaccines, doctors injecting the vaccines, and the militia rounding people up at gunpont and taking them to places where they will be either quarantined or forced to get the vaccines are protected from liabilty by these new laws.

Manufacturing fear of microorganisms is a profitable but dangerous business in America. The civil liberties the M.D./Ph.D. fear mongers thave persuaded politicians to take away in the name of disease control will make America no better than the totalitarian governments in the world ruling their people with fear and oppression.

Doctors Behaving Badly

For Science's Gatekeepers, a Credibility Gap

It is no wonder M.D./Ph.D. researchers find themselves in a credibility gap. We have put them on a pedestal for far too long, creating an elitist class which considers themselves entitled to special entitlements and protection from ethical constraints.

For far too long, the American public has been worshipping at the feet of those who practice science and medicine, naively assuming men and women who gravitate toward the healing arts are somehow exempt from human flaws that tempt them to cut corners or exploit others for profit, career advancement and fame. It has been a costly mistake to allow scientists and doctors to police themselves because we have based our entire health care system on a collective trust they are always telling the truth.

Transparency, accountability and justice are three values which will help keep the scientific research process and those who operate it truthful. The public should have full access to all scientific data and analysis used to proclaim a medical intervention is safe and effective for human use. Those who accept responsibility for proclaiming a medical intervention safe and effective should be held accountable if they are not truthful. And those who are harmed by a medical intervention which has been falsely proclaimed to be safe and effective should be able to access the civil court system to seek justice.

Americans Are Sicker Than British

Study Shows Americans Sicker Than the English

The news that Americans are twice as sick as the British is not a mystery. The British do not force every citizen to get multiple doses of vaccines from cradle to the grave, setting them up for immune mediated inflammation that leads to chronic neurological and autoimmune dysfunction. The use of a few vaccines in Britain has been voluntary. Use of multiple vaccines in the U.S. has been compulsory.

For half a century, U.S. health officials, doctors and pharmaceutical companies have been pushing more and more expensive vaccines and drugs on children and adults. They have promised increased vaccine and drug use will keep us healthy. Instead too many Americans have become the walking wounded.

A serious investigation into the incidence of chronic disease and disability in highly vaccinated, lesser vaccinated and completely unvaccinated individuals is long overdue.

Real Life Experience of a Vaccine Reaction

"From the day he got MMR, he more or less went into a coma," Mr Files said.
"He doesn't want to play with anyone, he doesn't want to talk to anyone."

Mr Files said they noticed a change in Geoffrey straight after he was
vaccinated. He suffered ear infections and had to take a lot of antibiotics.
"Before the jab, he was starting to feed himself. Now he has to be watched
to make sure he is eating. He has gone backwards," he said."

Once again, the real life experience of parents, who watch their children
regress after vaccination, trumps the denials of doctors that it is all just
a "coincidence" when healthy children become chronically ill and disabled
after vaccination.

It is not surprising that well educated upper and middle class families
are making independent vaccination choices for their children. When health
care consumers become informed about a medical intervention that carries a
risk of injury or death, such as vaccination, they are more likely to engage
in informed decision making rather than blindly trust the "experts." An
enlightened society is one which allows all citizens, regardless of economic
status, to become fully informed about all risks associated with a medical
intervention and make educated, voluntary decisions about which risks they
are willing to take with their own health or the health of their children.

The medical "experts" are not infallible and they are not immune from the
desire for power, money and fame. There is every reason to question their
reasoning and their motives when they refuse to acknowledge or deal with
vaccine complications leading to permanent brain and immune system
dysfunction in some children. The failure to value the life of each
individual child by writing off some children as expendable in service to
the rest, is at the root of much of the distrust educated parents have for
the mass vaccination system and those who operate it.
